Help us Green the Planet!!!
Greenfest has arrived! Join Central Lake Ontario Conservation on Saturday, October 13th at our family “Greenfest” at the Enniskillen Conservation Area in Clarington. We have a variety of green activities, resources and community support to show us all how to help mother earth be a little greener. This is a FREE event and it’s happening from 10:00am to 3:00pm, rain or shine.
Greenfest is a celebration of the Durham Children’s Groundwater Festival 10th anniversary,” says Patricia Lowe, Festival Chair. “Over the past ten years, the Groundwater Festival has educated more than 40,000 local grade four and high school students, teachers and parent volunteers about water giving them the tools to conserve and protect this valuable natural resource. This is a chance for the public to learn a little more about the blue stuff we depend on everyday, and find out that going green makes sense and keeps our water clean.” We will have a selection of activities from the Groundwater Festival including our very popular Aboriginal Voices program. Chief Topleaf who will take us back in time with examples of how First Nations looked after the land and water and ways to help us do the same. We will have kids environmentally friendly crafts, recycled art and natural home products for sale, environmental fun with Ontario Power Generation, nature hikes, a fly fishing demonstration, a well water demonstration by Well Wise, resources for water do’s and don’ts from the Durham Region Works Department, and lots more green and blue ideas for everyday living. “There is something for everyone at Greenfest,” says Patricia and we look forward to helping you take some green steps to leave behind a smaller footprint on the planet.
