Central Lake Ontario Conservation (CLOCA) would like to thank all the volunteers that made the 2nd Annual Check Your Watershed Day a great success.
On Saturday, July 21st, over 30 volunteers and 20 conservation staff gave the Oshawa Creek Watershed a physical checkup. Volunteers and Conservation Staff got their feet wet as they work in small teams to locate streams and check water flow levels throughout the Oshawa Creek Watershed.
"
The water flow data gathered from Check Your Watershed Day is one of many indicators used to measure watershed health, says Mr. Jason Barnucz, Aquatic Biologist with Central Lake Ontario Conservation. "With the help of the volunteers over 100 sites throughout the watershed were studied in a period of just a few hours!. On behalf of Central Lake Ontario Conservation we hope everyone had a great time and we look forward to seeing everyone back next year." (Group Photo)
Check Your Watershed Day events were also held in the watersheds of the Duffins Creek and Ganaraska River on the same day. In total, more than 300 volunteers and staff participated in the event.
