PaRx
Healing with the Land

A Prescription You'll Want to Fill!

PaRx is an initiative of the BC Parks Foundation and, with evidence that spending time in nature can improve health and promote healing, is on a mission to connect people to nature across Canada.

Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority has partnered with PaRx by offering a
20% discount on our Annual Parking Pass for those prescribed a PaRx prescription for nature by a
registered healthcare professional.

Why a prescription for nature?

For millennia, Indigenous Peoples have turned to the land for health, wellness, sustenance, and renewal. Long before written prescriptions, the wind, water, and trees were—and remain—the first medicine.

Current research shows quantitatively that people who spend more time in nature experience physical, mental, and emotional benefits. These include living longer, experiencing increased energy, decreased anxiety, better mood, pain reduction, reduced stress levels, improved heart health, and more!

Recognizing these benefits, regulated Canadian healthcare professionals can now write personalized nature prescriptions for their patients!

Where can I get a PaRx prescription?

Oshawa Clinic Group was the first clinic in Durham Region to offer PaRx prescriptions! Healthcare providers across the Region are encouraged to join the PaRx program to begin issuing nature prescriptions. Ask your healthcare provider about PaRX prescriptions.

By participating, healthcare providers become part of a growing movement that harnesses the power of nature as a therapeutic tool, benefiting patients while promoting conservation and environmental stewardship.
