Clean Water Stewardship Program – Project Funding Grants
Larger planting projects may qualify for funding grants (up to 75%) and services through CLOCA’s Clean Water Stewardship Program (CWSP), provided that the project meets
the criteria and objectives of the program. Eligibility criteria are based on watershed, source protection and conservation area planning and the size and connectivity of
the planting area.
The program includes planting and maintenance of the trees through the first growing season. The general sequence of activities and timing is as follows:
- site visit, planting plan and required site preparation and staking – summer/fall
- completion of site preparation and staking (landowner responsibility) – fall/winter
- invoicing and payment due - February/March
- planting and first herbicide application - April/May
- mowing if required (landowner responsibility) - June/September
- survival assessment - September/October
The landowner may be responsible for site preparation as prescribed and, if necessary, mowing between the tree rows once or twice during the first growing season. The landowner must agree to maintain the trees for a minimum of 10 years.
The cost for planting and maintenance may vary depending on equipment and site access, plus the cost of the seedlings and applicable taxes. Funding may be approved or declined based on available program funds, project type, location and priority. Contact program staff for further details.
