About the event

Meet-up location: Victoria Street Parking Lot (1125 Victoria Street). Parking is free for event participants.


Garlic Mustard and European Buckthorn are invasive plants that outcompete native species for space and resources. Together, we will be removing Garlic Mustard and European Buckthorn along the Chickadee Trail to restore the habitat for the native plants and animals that rely on it.


No experience needed! CLOCA staff will teach participants how to identify and properly remove Garlic Mustard and European Buckthorn.


This event will take place in a natural environment, on and off-trail. Please wear light-coloured clothing if possible, including long pants tucked into long socks and sturdy, closed-toed shoes to protect you from mosquitoes, ticks, and uneven terrain. Please wear bug spray, sunscreen, and bring your own water to drink. No pets. Gloves and trowels will be provided for removing the Buckthorn, as the shrubs can have sharp thorns.
