Meet-up location: Heber Down Conservation Area's main parking lot. The Miyawaki Forest is just south of the main parking lot. Parking is free for event participants.

What are Mini Forests? Densely plant native trees and shrubs in a front yard, park, or other urban space to create a self-sustaining mini forest in 2-3 years! The dense, diverse planting (Miyawaki Method) drives rapid tree and shrub growth, quickly offering mature forest benefits, including plant and wildlife diversity and climate resilience. Mini forests transform low-value habitat features into thriving woodlands! The Mini Forest at Heber Down Conservation Area is intended to introduce and promote the concept of Mini Forests.

No experience needed! Planted last fall, the native trees and shrubs in the Mini Forest at Heber Down Conservation Area are growing well but need annual upkeep until they are more established. Help spread mulch, pull weeds, and replace rodent guards to ensure it…
