Festival Assistant (1 Position)

Seasonal - March 7th to March 29th, 2026 (12 days total) - (Purple Woods Maple Syrup Festival)

This is a seasonal position, and you may be required to work all or some of the following dates: March 7, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 28 and 29 during the annual Purple Woods Maple Syrup Festival. A mandatory half-day training and orientation session is planned for Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Location:   Purple Woods Conservation Area, 38 Coates Road East, Oshawa, Ontario (at Simcoe Street)

Responsibilities:

As the Festival Assistant, you will support our team in delivering an exceptional visitor experience at the festival. This position requires adaptability and a positive attitude as you assist in various roles such as cashier duties, parking operations, Heritage Hall attendant and interpretive and guest engagement roles.  You will work in a team environment and are required to wear approved safety footwear when required. Work gloves and safety vests will be provided. Candidate must be prepared to promote Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority as a leading agency in watershed protection and stewardship.


To be prepared to assist in a variety of roles, you will receive training in equipment handling, customer service, two-way radio communication equipment, emergency response, parking operations and interpretive stop material as part of a half-day orientation session. You will also be required to complete a mandatory online health and safety and personnel training program.


The Festival Assistant role requires the individual to work in an outdoor environment approximately 90% of the time with no heat source.  You will report to the Festival Planner and Volunteer Facilitator. The festival hours of operation are 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. The employee is expected to work 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Qualifications:

1) Strong customer service.

2) Ability to adapt to different roles and tasks as required.

3) Cashier experience is an asset

4) Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

5) Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

6) Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

Wages and Benefits:

$19.00 per hour
