SENIOR PARK LABOURER
Seasonal - April 27th, 2026 to August 28th, 2026 (18 Weeks)
This is a Summer Student Position. The Senior Park Labourer will work with Park Labourers to conduct maintenance and operations on Conservation Area properties.
The Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority (CLOCA) is seeking two (2) summer students for the position of Senior Park Labourer. The Senior Park Labourer will work with Park Labourers to conduct maintenance and operations on Conservation Area properties. Work will involve restoration, rehabilitation, and protection of Conservation Area land based on natural heritage goals, as well as maintenance and assisting with the construction of public facilities.
Responsibilities:
· Operate authority vehicles and trailer maintenance equipment
· Assist staff in providing and enhancing Conservation Area visitor service
· Assist staff in preparing Conservation Areas for public use, including Day-use Picnic Areas, Group Camping sites for non-profit groups, Trails, etc.
· Once trained and familiar with the position, the Senior Park Labourer will be required to work at least one weekend per month either with a Resource Technician or a Park Labourer
· Assist staff in building and ground maintenance required in Conservation Areas
· Assist staff in Conservation Area projects, development and maintenance of public trails and public signage
· Receive ongoing training for leadership responsibilities, health and safety, WHMIS, equipment use and skills development
· Student must be able to perform outdoor, physical labour and be able to work weekends when required
· Must follow Authority policies, procedures, directives and ensure public and staff safety
· Student will be working in public Conservation Areas, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors, and responding to visitor inquiries or complaints
Qualifications:
· Valid Ontario Driver’s License, in good standing.
· Have a minimum of 3 years of work experience relating to this position
· Current First Aid/CPR certification
· WHMIS training
· Dealing with people, problems and situations with honesty, integrity and personal ethics; show interest, initiative and effort
· Plan, design or carry out a project or task from start to finish with well-defined objectives and outcomes
· Work to agreed quality standards and specifications
· Select and use appropriate tools and technology for a task or project
· Continuously monitor the success of a project or task and identify ways to improve
· Work as a team member to complete projects and tasks within the Conservation Areas
· Student must provide and wear green patch safety boots. Other required safety equipment as prescribed in the Health & Safety Manual is provided by the employer
Wages and Benefits:
Wage Rate per Hour: $21.40 per hour Hours per Week: 35
Some weekend work is required by this position.
